It’s one of those fashionable facts, the world whirls through trends and the flag craze is no different. Last summer, it was the patriotic Stars & Stripes of the all American flag that took centre stage. However, as we amble on into the year of the snake, all signs point to the bold blue and red motifs of the Union Jack. And it’s about time. After all, Britain is the birthplace of wellingtons, cucumber sandwiches, punk rock and, most importantly, Westwood, McQueen, McCartney and Galliano.

Hi. Lately, it feels as if I've been pulled in two opposite directions. Part of me loves the superficiality of fashion – the coming and going of trends; this season's dos become next season's don'ts. While, another keeps thinking that I should be doing something a lot more meaningful with my existence – other than shopping. Ah, shock, horror – right?
